Elizabeth, of Sunshine Millinery, is a talented textiles artist. Her work combines traditional craft with experimental play and whimsy, using reclaimed materials to create wearable sculptures that celebrate individuality and imagination.
Elizabeth has experience running workshops for diverse groups and loves creating welcoming spaces where people can learn, make, and express themselves freely. She is a qualified Level 2 Teaching Assistant having just started her first TA job at my local primary school in the early years setting and has experience running workshops and creative sessions for groups ranging from Key Stage 1 up to adults.
Elizabeth’s creations sing with a sense of character and playfulness – from a rainbow trout headpiece fashioned from an upcycled silk necktie to a denim moth and a pigeon wearing a top hat and monocle.

Their Journey
Through the Showcase we have helped Elizabeth strengthen her profile as an artist and helped her work to manageable deadlines for a series of exciting textiles projects. Elizabeth attended a 1:1 social media workshop online with Billboard artist Alex Grant, which propelled her forward with her own marketing and setting up her first Facebook channel.
Working with weekly support from Jessie, Elizabeth has designed two vibrant headpiece/hat workshop briefs from scratch which has included costing out materials as well as step by step visuals of the design process and colourful summaries for each one. One of her workshops – Wiggly Wire Wonders - has been lined up for commission by a local festival next year and her Christmas hats workshop runs this December commissioned by local arts institute, The Culture House.
Other projects Elizabeth is working towards include a hat project pattern being featured in a national lifestyle magazine. Next March she will exhibit at TexStyles Festival in 2026 and she has a stand at the Caistor Xmas Emporium throughout November and December where her hats and headpieces will be on sale.
Elizabeth is hoping to secure mentorship with a local textiles practitioner in the New Year where she will be able to gain new skills and observe other makers at work.
‘I really wanted to be involved with the Showcase,’ says Elizabeth. ‘I’m good at the making but I was struggling with the business side of things so it was great to get mentoring on social media and have someone to hold me accountable. Jessie has worked alongside me all the way and has been a massive advocate for finding new things I wouldn’t have found for myself. The Billboard has really built up my confidence and it’s lovely having someone really believe in what I do. It’s helped open my eyes to other opportunities and ways to diversify and has helped me feel stronger both professionally and personally as I find my feet as a business. I’m excited to be putting my big brave pants on and finally getting myself out there!
